The Warriors Hat

Mental Skills

There is a power play at work in most challenges. It’s not about overcoming anything, it’s about meeting the power and matching its energy.

The truth doesn’t change just because you avoid it and reality won’t bend unless you meet it.

There is a power play at work in most challenges. It’s not about overcoming anything, it’s about meeting the power and matching its energy.

Most of us pre-race will feel the disharmony, that fractured feeling where doubt gets its hooks into us. The unknown doesn’t feel safe to feel and creates a lot of tension pre-race.

But have you ever noticed how it completely dissolves once the race starts? Where did it go?

Once you meet the challenge head on with your own power, you are matching the power of the challenge with the power of your own presence, the challenge is then equalised.

That awkward discomfort we feel is the power imbalance that we create in our own thinking. The part of us that believes it’s not up to the task. That’s a story….Confidence isn’t thinking you are better than the challenge.

It’s knowing you are equal to it.

So, pre-race you have to get out of your head as much as you can and get into the power of your own presence. You won’t get there by engaging in mental football with the unknown.

You get there by meeting the unknown with the un-manifested in your own body. Your ground, the power of your breath, bringing in the physical anchor of paying attention to your feet. Paying attention to the nowness of those natural anchors.

We all have access to this circuit breaker that can take us out of repetitive doubt and put us back in energy that can meet rather than avoid.

Avoidance just creates more doubt because it tries to circumnavigate the truth by trying to know what can’t possibly be known.

Let go of what was and what isn’t.

Put on the warriors hat!

Get in your body and out of your head.
